Sierra Dann

You’re on my About page — the place to get to know who I am, what drives me, and how I approach the work I love. Production has been my dream from the start, and I feel truly electric on set, whether I’m running the schedule or running coffees.

The Basics

I’m originally from Maine, USA, and recently returned after several years living abroad. I’ve had the privilege of working on large-scale productions, including Netflix’s Wednesday (dailies work on both 2nd Unit “Raven Unit” and 1st Unit) as an Assistant Director Trainee, as well as TV commercials for Guinness and Maxol.

Alongside on-set experience, I have strong administrative and organizational skills, managing schedules, workflows and line budgets, as well as coordinating travel and accommodations and ensuring logistics run smoothly.

For the past three years, I’ve also worked as a producer, creative director, and strategist, developing content marketing campaigns for international brands, combining creativity with strategic planning to bring projects to life.

What I love

I adore traveling and find that solo trips push me to grow and build confidence. Some of my favorite journeys have taken me to Egypt, Italy, and Australia.

I also lived in Ireland for several years and spent time in Germany — experiences that have helped me learn how to connect with people from all walks of life.

When I’m not working or traveling, you can usually find me outdoors — hiking, camping, or learning new skills (currently surfing!). I also love giving back, volunteering at a wildlife clinic and with a children’s theatre program, which brings together my love of nature and creativity.

Values

I believe we each have a responsibility to use our passions to make the world a better place. My goal is to earn the opportunity to work on projects that bring happiness to others while giving voice to important but silenced or ignored stories.

In all of my pursuits - creative, academic, and personal - I gravitate towards those which teach me about the world and focus on environmentalism, women, and mental health. National Geographic Documentaries and the show Big Little Lies (a show I published an academic article about) are perfect examples of productions I aspire to work on.

Theatre

I have training and practical experience in theatre with a focus in directing. I’ve also worked in acting, lighting design/electrics, scenic design, and set construction. The ephemerality of the medium, as well as the opportunity to guide collaboration between artists to find new stories in well-known scripts, excites me.

One of my favorite playwrights is Paula Vogel who wrote a hilarious and touching LGBTQIA+ centered show I had the opportunity to direct called And Baby Makes Seven. If you haven’t read it - you must!

Scholar

I have an honors BA in Theatre and Communication and completed my MSc in Digital Marketing Strategy at Trinity College Dublin with distinction in 2022. Additionally, I spent my high school years studying STEM fields at a top ranked boarding school.

Although I’m not pursuing another degree, I am taking classes for fun at the University where I’m currently working and have acted as the 1st author for a published academic article. This article coined a new term relating to women and postfeminist representations in TV.

Alright, enough about me! I’d love to learn more about you.
